TrustTomorrow on Education : Giving the disabled a chance to develop their careers

It is common for college students with disabilities to face additional challenges during the job search process, as their skills are often disregarded and they take a longer time to gain employment.

Facing these very challenges upon graduating from university, Walter was prompted to establish the CareER Association in 2014 to help students like him by setting up a job matching platform and offering assistance based on his experience.

Supported by Swire Trust’s TrustTomorrow initiative, the CareER Association has recently launched a Diversity Inclusion Index – the first of its kind in Hong Kong – to equip potential employers with tool kits aimed at creating job opportunities for the disabled and increasing human resources for local companies. By shaking off the stereotypes of people with disabilities, companies will be able to focus on absorbing talents that best fit available positions.
